  Dealt with a very incompetent watch "expert" today to try to value my grandfathers 1958 rolex. Firstly I was told that it was obviously from 1988-89 and he could "tell just by looking at it". I pointed out that my grandfather died in 1985 so this was impossible. After having to explain to him the difference between the engraved model and serial numbers, he then tried to prove me wrong by completely mis-typing the serial number into his phone.. "there you go , 1974!" .. unbelievable! The guy was not only incompetent but hugely arrogant and condescending from start to finish. I was expecting a higher level of expertise from such a reputable jeweller
